[Avionics Today 09-19-2014] Thales will supply NATS, the U.K.'s main air navigation service provider, with their new Safety Nets Server. The technology will be integrated into a fully virtualized environment and is set to be deployed at Swanwick and Prestwick Air Traffic Control (ATC) Centers, as well as at NATS’ Corporate Technical Center.

According to Thales, the system, which is based on the Thales TopSky–Safety Nets system, guarantees earlier conflict detection and a lower nuisance alert rate than standard safety nets.

Currently, TopSky–Safety Nets are used extensively in SESAR validations and are fully compliant with ICAO Aviation System Block Upgrades, Block 0 and 1.
